IAN PARKER

BIOGRAPHY

Born in 1955 in County Durham, the son of a coal miner/artist, Ian attended school in Yorkshire before studying art at Shoreditch College, London graduating in 1978. Since then he has worked as a professional painter in the Lake District.

His preferred subjects remain fruit, flowers and vegetables presented in simple compositions that are brought to life by his remarkable talent for capturing the evocative interplays of surface and light.

Over the last twenty- five years, Ian’s paintings have been consistently selected for the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy. The Daily Telegraph critic Mark Monahan says of his work “his paintings are exquisitely simple, perfectly executed and his subjects are bathed in subtly atmospheric light.

His work is in many corporate collections including Lohnro Textiles, Courtaulds Textiles and Tate & Lyle PLC as well as many private collections around the world.
